This is the cornerstone of all fitness improvement. The principle states that for the body to adapt and get stronger, it must be subjected to a workload slightly greater than it's accustomed to. We apply this by gradually increasing the difficulty of your workouts over time, primarily by manipulating volume (distance) and intensity (pace).
In Your Plan: You will notice your weekly mileage and the duration of your long runs increase incrementally. The intensity of specific workouts, like intervals or tempo runs, will also become more challenging as you get fitter. This gradual progression minimizes the risk of injury while maximizing your fitness gains.
